Kavir

Named after the Dasht-e Kavir desert also photographed in “Between Two Deserts,” this floor-based bronze piece recreates the cracked, plate-like texture of a dry salt flat at full scale, cast in dozens of interlocking bronze segments. Viewers are meant to walk around the piece, and depending on the installation across it, treating a photographed landscape as something that can finally be stood on.

It is the most direct pairing in Hooman's entire body of work: the same desert, first captured as an image, then rebuilt as an object you can enter.
