Fixed

A study in permanence

Medium
Mixed analog formats, studio still life
Location
Tehran studio
Year
2024

The newest and most conceptual of the series: still-life photographs of objects mid-transformation (a bronze pour caught in motion, wax melting under heat, a print curling as it dries), each one an image of impermanence, paradoxically made permanent by the act of photographing it.

The title is a small joke Hooman allows himself: “fixed” is also the name of the final chemical bath that makes a photograph permanent. This series is about everything that refuses to hold still, held still anyway.
